Divine Intimacy is that innermost, familiar, closely-related fellowship that Jesus encourages and even demands of all saints of God and most especially we who are called into the ministry of preaching. I have found it next to impossible to be an intimate friend of Jesus without maintaining a prayer closet. I find unbroken fellowship with Jesus to be impossible without being obedient to He who said, "But you, when you pray, go into your closet room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will repay you openly."
Divine intimacy is a must if we are to live victoriously in this world. Innermost fellowship demands a coming apart from the world and coming into the secret place that Jesus calls "the closet."
God's Word gives simple instructions as to how to establish intimacy with Jehovah God. It is not enough to be forgiven and saved by His Grace; we must accept the Savior's complete invitation..."come and abide."
God says to me His child, "Draw close to me and I will draw close to you." (James 4:8) This promise of God to be intimate with me has a condition. I must first draw near to Him. Jesus said, "Go into your closet and I'll meet you there." Always, anytime, anywhere I have the privilege of praying to God but if I wish to linger in His presence and fellowship in conversation, I must establish a place, a closet.
